Monte dall’Ora Six bottle collection: The hills of Valpolicella
This six-pack explores three distinct expressions of Monte dall’Ora, with two bottles of each wine allowing every stage of the journey to be revisited rather than tasted only once.
Monte dall’Ora was founded in 1995 by Carlo Venturini and Alessandra Zantedeschi in Castelrotto, within the historic Valpolicella Classica zone. Both came from farming families, but chose to build their own estate from neglected terraces that required years of restoration. Their work is rooted in organic and biodynamic farming, old local varieties, spontaneous fermentation and the belief that wine should reflect the living balance of the vineyard rather than cellar technique.
Saseti is Valpolicella in its simplest and most traditional, form. It comes from terraced vineyards between Castelrotto and San Pietro in Cariano, planted on limestone-rich soils and cultivated under pergola. The indigenous varieties Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and Oseleta are fermented spontaneously in stainless steel and unlined cement, preserving freshness, perfume and the natural energy of the fruit.
In the glass, Saseti is bright and fragrant, with red cherry, wild berries, rose, dried herbs and gentle spice. Its light frame, vivid acidity and mineral finish make it a true table wine: bright, light, versatile and deeply connected to the traditional drinking culture of Valpolicella.
Camporenzo carries the Valpolicella Classico Superiore designation, indicating greater natural concentration and longer maturation than standard Valpolicella. It comes from the Camporenzo vineyard, a limestone-rich hillside site farmed biodynamically and harvested by hand.
Spontaneous fermentation is followed by maturation in large oak casks, which develop the wine without imposing the flavour of new wood. In the glass, it shows ripe red and black cherry, cranberry, plum, pepper, dried herbs and earthy spice. The palate is supple and composed, with fine tannins, natural acidity and the depth to continue developing in bottle.
Stropa is Monte dall’Ora’s traditional Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. Its name comes from the flexible willow shoots historically used to tie vines against the strong winter winds that cross the hill of Castelrotto, and it's visible at the top of the capsule as a nod to this old tradition.
Only selected bunches are harvested by hand and placed in wooden trays to dry naturally for approximately three months. The concentrated grapes then ferment spontaneously in open vats before the wine undergoes a long maturation in large oak casks and bottle.
Stropa is powerful without relying on sweetness or excessive extraction. Dried cherry, plum and blackberry meet tobacco, balsamic herbs, pepper and warm spice. The palate is enveloping and persistent, but freshness and savoury structure keep the wine connected to the hillside from which it comes.
Together, these six bottles tell a complete story of Valpolicella through one family estate. Saseti preserves the region’s fresh, everyday tradition. Camporenzo reveals the depth and patience of Valpolicella Classico Superiore. Stropa shows how natural Appassimento and long ageing can transform the same landscape into a profound, contemplative Amarone.
