Marolo Grappa di Barolo 9 Years

Sale price$210.00

Marolo’s Grappa di Barolo 9 Years begins a remarkable study of time, wood and Nebbiolo. Distilled from fresh pomace sourced from the production of Barolo, it retains the noble grape’s floral and balsamic identity while introducing the depth and warmth of extended maturation.

Paolo Marolo founded the distillery in Alba in 1977 with a clear ambition: to treat grappa as a spirit capable of expressing grape variety, landscape and artisanal precision. Fresh pomace is handled through discontinuous bain-marie distillation, a slow method designed to preserve the finest aromas before the spirit begins its long evolution in wood.

This expression matures for 9 years in small oak barrels. At this stage, the wood broadens the grappa without overwhelming its fruit, creating the most immediate and fruit-driven member of the aged Barolo series.

In the glass, it shows a brilliant amber colour. The nose is broad and articulate, moving through dried fruit, cooked apple, preserved fruit, prune and raisin before opening into honeyed floral notes. Cinnamon, tobacco, liquorice and vanilla emerge with air, giving the spirit greater warmth and complexity.

The palate is smooth despite its 50% strength, with rich fruit, gentle sweetness from maturation and a long, finely spiced finish. It is the ideal introduction to Marolo’s long-aged Grappa di Barolo: generous, expressive and still clearly connected to the original Nebbiolo pomace.
