2024 Elio Altare Barbera d'Alba
Elio Altare’s Barbera d’Alba is a vivid and polished expression of Barbera from La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe. Grown on calcareous and sandy soils, it captures the grape’s natural generosity while keeping the freshness and precision that define Altare’s modern, finely tuned style. The 2024 release has already been noted for its vibrant red fruit, spice, leather, lavender, and brisk acidity.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red colour. The nose is expressive and energetic, with red cherry, dark berries, violet, licorice, spice, and a subtle touch of French oak. On the palate, it is juicy and full-bodied, with Barbera’s natural acidity giving lift to the ripe fruit, supported by a smooth texture and a long, dark-fruited finish.
A polished but highly drinkable Barbera d’Alba — generous, fresh, and versatile, with enough depth to move beyond simple everyday drinking.
Perfect with pasta al ragù, roasted meats, grilled sausages, salumi, mushroom dishes, and medium-aged cheeses.
