2023 Fontanabianca Barbaresco

Fontanabianca’s Barbaresco comes from Neive, one of the historic communes of the appellation, where Nebbiolo finds elegance, perfume and structure on clay-limestone soils. This is the estate’s classic Barbaresco, drawn from the traditional heart of the Langhe and shaped with a measured, terroir-focused approach.

Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine is vinified in stainless steel at controlled temperature before ageing for around 1 year in large oak casks and barriques, followed by further refinement in bottle. The result is a Barbaresco that delivers a modern rendition of the style that shows pure fruit and a structure that offers rewards with cellaring yet remains incredibly great drinking now.

In the glass, it shows a luminous ruby-garnet colour. The nose is elegant and expressive, with red cherry, rose, plum, dried herbs, sweet spice and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it is dry, structured and persistent, with fine Nebbiolo tannins, fresh acidity and a long fine finale.

A classic Neive Barbaresco, built around perfume, purity and character. Serious enough for the cellar, but graceful enough to show its character with time in the glass.

Perfect with braised beef, roasted game, porcini mushroom risotto, truffle dishes, aged cheeses.
