Siccagno is the pure expression of Nero d’Avola from Arianna Occhipinti, sourced from the Vittoria area at around 280 metres above sea level. It is made from 100% Nero d’Avola grown on calcareous sandy soils and sub-Apennine rock, capturing a style that combines wild Mediterranean energy with finesse and aromatic clarity.

The wine is produced with a biodynamic, organic approach and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by around 25 days of skin maceration. It then matures for 24 months in 30 hl Austrian oak barrels, with a short period of bottle ageing before release, allowing structure and detail to fully integrate.

In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby red. The nose is complex and expressive, with aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, dried herbs, and floral notes, layered with earthy and mineral undertones. On the palate, it is structured and powerful yet refined, with firm but polished tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, savoury finish marked by dark fruit and subtle spice.

A serious expression of Nero d’Avola, combining depth, tension, and elegance, it pairs perfectly with roasted meats, game, slow-cooked dishes, and aged cheeses.

Look no further if you want a serious, structured Southern Italian Red with real depth and ageing potential. This is for those who appreciate intensity balanced by finesse, firm but refined tannins, and a wine that clearly speaks of place rather than overt winemaking. Ideal if you prefer complex, savoury reds with presence at the table and evolution in the glass over time.
