2022 Foradori 'Fuoripista' Pinot Grigio MAGNUM

'Fuoripista' is one of Foradori’s most distinctive white wines, although calling it simply “white” misses the point. It is Pinot Grigio with its skins, colour and structure restored, made through a method that reveals the variety’s hidden depth rather than its easy freshness.

Pinot Grigio is often treated as a light, quick-drinking white grape. Here, Foradori and Marco Devigili take the opposite path. The grapes spend more than 8 months on the skins in tinajas, large clay amphorae that allow a long, slow extraction of colour, tannin and flavour.

This long maceration is essential. The skins of Pinot Grigio are not green, but grey-pink, which is why Fuoripista develops its copper, rose-gold and amber tones. The tinajas help preserve energy and purity while giving the wine shape and texture. They allow the wine to breathe and evolve without the flavour imprint of oak.

In the glass, the 2022 shows a luminous copper-orange colour. The nose is vivid and layered, with crabapple, cranberry, orange peel, rhubarb, wild strawberry, nutmeg and fresh herbs. On the palate, it is fuller and more structured than a conventional Pinot Grigio, yet still fresh and precise, with fine tannins, bright acidity and a long savoury finish.

Fuoripista 2022 is a benchmark for skin-contact Pinot Grigio: textural, gastronomic and deeply individual. It is not made to be merely refreshing. It is made to show that Pinot Grigio, in the right hands and with enough time, can become a wine of colour, grip, perfume and real presence.

Presented in Magnum, this larger format offers slower, more graceful ageing, preserving freshness while allowing the wine to develop greater complexity and depth.
