2022 Poderi San Lazzaro 'Podere 72' Piceno Superiore, Montepulciano & Sangiovese

'Podere 72' is a distinctive expression of Rosso Piceno Superiore, crafted from equal parts Montepulciano and Sangiovese grown in the clay-limestone soils of Offida. The vineyards, harvested in early October, benefit from a balanced ripening period that enhances both structure and aromatic clarity. Traditional winemaking with frequent pump-overs ensures depth and extraction, while aging for 16 months in French oak barriques, followed by bottle refinement before release; brings polish and integration.

In the glass, it reveals an intense ruby red color. The nose is expressive, with notes of red berries and wild forest fruits and supported by subtle hints of spice.  On the palate it is full bodied and rich with the texture being juicy and the tannins soft and chalky. There is a distinctive dark chocolate character that makes the wine so delicious to drink.
