2017 Château Saint-Paul Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois

Sale price$65.00

Château Saint-Paul sits in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, close to the boundary with Saint-Estèphe. Its 20 hectares of vines are planted on gravelly rises over limestone, a classic Médoc setting that favours Cabernet Sauvignon while retaining enough Merlot to bring roundness and flesh.

The vineyard is planted to Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine is made in a traditional, temperature-controlled style and matured for around 12 months in French oak barrels.

The 2017 opens with blackcurrant and plum, followed by graphite, cedar, tobacco and a light vanilla note. The palate is medium-bodied, with firm but polished tannins, fresh acidity and a savory finish that becomes more mineral and smoky with air.

It's a classical Haut-Médoc style: structured without being severe, mature enough to drink now, but with enough balance to continue developing for several more years.

Grilled meats, roast beef, lamb, pork ribs, mushrooms or ragù preparations, or aged cheeses.

Serve: 16–18 °C
Drink: 2026–2037
