2008 Radikon Merlot 1L
Radikon’s Merlot 2010 is one of the estate’s long-aged reds from the village of Oslavia, on the Friulian-Slovenian border. This is a regional expression of the grape, this is Merlot through the Radikon/Oslavian lens: deep, textural, and shaped by extended time in oak and bottle.
The wine spends around 30–60 days on the skins, followed by at least 5 years in used barriques and extended bottle ageing before released.
In the glass, it shows a mature ruby colour moving toward garnet. The nose is incredibly complex and evolved showing morello cherry, red berries, plum, bitter chocolate, leather, tobacco, earth, coffee, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is round and vibrant, with fully integrated fine tannins and a long, gentle finish that carries both maturity and complexity.
This is a mature, serious Merlot built for Radikon drinkers: complex and full of intrigue, slow-moving, and deeply gastronomic.
