20XX Casale della Ioria 'Campo Novo' Cesanese del Piglio

Campo Novo is Casale della Ioria’s vibrant expression of Cesanese del Piglio, from the hills of Ciociaria in southern Lazio. The estate sits between Anagni and Paliano, in one of the historic homes of the Cesanese grape, an area shaped by ancient viticulture, woodland, altitude, and a distinctive local microclimate.

Made from Cesanese d’Affile, Campo Novo is sourced from younger vines and vinified in stainless steel, with skin contact and fermentation supported by natural pied de cuve. The style is direct and energetic, focused on fruit, spice, and the rustic charm of the variety rather than heavy extraction.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour. The nose is expressive and Mediterranean, with black cherry, plum, wild berries, dark earth, dried herbs, and a gentle spicy edge. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, dry, and savoury, with fresh acidity, firm but approachable tannins, and a lightly bitter finish typical of Cesanese.

A characterful Lazio red: generous, regional, and food-driven, with enough depth to show why Cesanese del Piglio is one of central Italy’s most distinctive native appellations.

Perfect with Roman pasta dishes, grilled pork, lamb, sausages, mushrooms, salumi, and aged pecorino.
