2025 Ochota Barrels 'The Price of Silence' Gamay
The Price of Silence is Ochota Barrels’ small-batch Gamay: bright, nervy, and full of movement. The 2025 comes from Adelaide Hills fruit, with 13 days on skins, 30% whole bunch, 7 months in French oak, and no filtration — giving a wine that feels both delicate and tightly wound.
In the glass, it shows a vivid ruby colour. The nose is lifted and slightly medicinal, with red currant, raspberry, wild strawberry, spice, and a stony mineral edge. On the palate, it is lithe and energetic, with bright acidity, fine tannins, and a long, pure finish that keeps the wine focused rather than simply juicy.
This is Gamay with real tension — fresh, fragrant, and mineral, but with enough density to feel serious.
Perfect slightly chilled with charcuterie, roast chicken, pork, mushrooms, grilled vegetables, and casual shared plates.
