2025 Ochota Barrels 'Texture Like Sun'

Texture Like Sun is Ochota Barrels at its most free-form: a bright, restless field-style red built from multiple varieties and parcels, blended for energy rather than convention. The 2025 release brings together Pinot Noir, Grenache, Gewürztraminer, Gamay and Pinot Meunier, with fruit drawn across Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale sites. It is built through a continuous ferment during vintage, with new fruit and juice added as different vineyards come in.

In the glass, it shows a vivid, translucent ruby colour. The nose is lifted and playful, with wild strawberry, raspberry, damson, cassis, rose, spice, and a faint herbal edge. On the palate, it is juicy, supple, and highly drinkable, with soft red fruit on entry, fine tannins, and a fresh, vibrant finish.

This is the Ochota “picnic to fine dining” wine: light on its feet, but not simple — fragrant, energetic, and made to be served with a slight chill.

Perfect with charcuterie, pizza, roast chicken, grilled vegetables, pork, and casual shared plates.
