2025 Ochota Barrels 'Home...' Pinot Noir
'Home…' is Ochota Barrels’ most personal Pinot Noir release: a tiny, delicate wine from a vineyard roughly the size of a tennis court, farmed organically in the Basket Range / Uraidla area. The fruit is picked quickly by the family, fermented with minimal interference, and bottled with little more than a whisper of sulphur. It is framed less as a technical Pinot and more as a wine of intimacy, family, and place — slow lunches, hazelnut trees, and the feeling of home.
In the glass, it shows a pale, luminous ruby colour. The nose is pretty and lifted, with strawberry conserve, red cherry, kirsch, rose petal, exotic spice, graphite, and a faint whole-bunch savouriness. On the palate, it is fine, delicate, and tightly drawn, with red-fruited purity, gossamer tannins, and a graceful finish that needs time in the glass to fully unfold.
This is the more intimate and limited Pinot in the Ochota range: elegant, fragile, and quietly expressive rather than loud or forceful.
Perfect with roast chicken, duck, pork, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, and delicate shared plates.
