2025 Ochota Barrels 'Fugazi' Grenache

Fugazi is Ochota Barrels’ benchmark Grenache from McLaren Vale: light on its feet, but far from simple. The fruit comes from old dry-farmed bush vines in Blewitt Springs, planted on ironstone and gravelly red clay, giving a wine shaped by perfume, texture, and fine-boned structure rather than weight.

In the glass, it shows a translucent ruby-red colour. The nose is warm and fragrant, with raspberry, red currant, plum skin, wild herbs, aniseed, and gentle spice. On the palate, it is supple and mouthwatering, with silky tannins, lifted red fruit, and a long, savoury finish that stays fresh and precise.

This is Grenache in the Ochota register: bright, aromatic, and quietly rebellious — more finesse than force, more pulse than polish.

Perfect with lamb, chargrilled vegetables, pork, duck, spiced Middle Eastern dishes, and shared plates.
