2024 Foradori 'Fontanasanta' Manzoni Bianco
On the hills above Trento, where clay-limestone soils meet Alpine light and cool mountain air, Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco offers one of Foradori’s most distinctive white expressions.
The grape itself is a crossing of Riesling and Pinot Bianco:
Due to widespread pest and disease attacks that left European vineyards in a deep crisis from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, numerous researchers concentrated on the genetic improvement of grapevines through hybridization and breeding.
In 1924, at the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano Veneto, professor Luigi Manzoni (1888-1968) began a series of experiments that lasted until the mid-thirties and that led to the registration of a number of clones derived from the crossing of various varieties.
The wine is fermented on the skins in cement tanks and aged for 7 months in acacia casks. This gives it texture and depth without losing the freshness and verticality of its mountain origin.
In the glass, it shows a bright golden color. The nose is layered and refined, with notes of citrus peel, yellow apple, white flowers, dried herbs, and subtle honeyed and mineral tones. On the palate, it is textured and precise, with firm acidity, gentle phenolic grip, and a long, savoury finish that becomes more expressive with age.
A serious Alpine white with real evolution potential, this is a wine that rewards patience and begins to fully show itself after at least three years from harvest.
Perfect with freshwater fish, white meats, alpine cheeses, mushroom dishes, and structured vegetable preparations.
