2023 Occhipinti 'Il Frappato'

Il Frappato is one of Arianna Occhipinti’s defining wines, a pure expression of Frappato di Vittoria from the Iblei landscape. It carries the grape’s most distinctive qualities: brightness, perfume, tension and a quietly rebellious elegance, rooted in the sandy-calcareous soils around Vittoria.

Made from 100% Frappato di Vittoria, the wine ferments in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts and spends 25 days on the skins. It then matures for 17 months in concrete tanks, followed by 1 month in bottle, preserving the variety’s delicacy while giving the wine depth, texture and a more serious frame.

In the glass, it shows a pale, luminous ruby colour. The nose is refined and expressive, with sour cherry, wild strawberry, blood orange, rose petal, dried herbs and a subtle earthy note. On the palate, it is fresh, graceful and finely structured, with bright acidity, delicate tannins and a long, savoury finish.

A benchmark Frappato from Vittoria: elegant, precise and full of character, with the lightness of the grape carried by real depth and territorial identity.
