2022 Luigi Maffini 'Klèos' Aglianico del Cilento

Klèos is Luigi Maffini’s expression of Aglianico from the Cilento coast, where Mediterranean light and sea influence soften the naturally firm character of the variety. Sourced from west and south-west facing vineyards, it reflects a warmer, approachable style of Aglianico, shaped by balance rather than power.

If Nebbiolo is the king of Northern Italy, down Central and Southern Italy Aglianico reigns supreme. Klèos is crafted to highlight fruit clarity and drinkability while retaining structure and typicity. Production remains focused, with around 28,000 bottles per vintage.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red with purple hues. The nose is open and generous, with aromas of cherry and red currant, leaning toward jammy ripeness while maintaining freshness. On the palate, it is smooth and approachable, with soft tannins, a gentle white spice, smoky undertones, and a fresh, persistent finish that keeps the wine lifted and balanced.
