2020 Radikon 'Jakot' 500ml

Jakot is Radikon’s counter-current expression of Friulano — the name itself being “Tokaj” written backwards, after the old Tocai name could no longer be used for the grape. It belongs to the estate’s classic 500ml Blue line, with 2–3 months of skin contact, 3 years in barrel, and 1–2 years in bottle depending on the vintage.

In the glass, it shows a golden-amber colour. The nose is layered and distinctive, with dried apple, orange peel, almond skin, chamomile, hay, tea, herbs, and a subtle nutty note typical of Friulano. On the palate, it is dry, savoury, and textural, with firm acidity, gentle tannic grip, and a long, almond-like finish.

This is the most savoury and quietly complex of the three: less explosive than Oslavje, less austere than Ribolla, but deeply gastronomic and unmistakably Radikon.

Perfect with San Daniele ham, aged cheeses, roast chicken, pork, mushrooms, and Friulian or Alpine-inspired cuisine.
