2010 Radikon Merlot 500ml
Radikon’s Merlot 2010 is one of the estate’s long-aged reds from Oslavia, on the Friulian-Slovenian border. Far from a soft or conventional expression of the grape, this is Merlot through the Radikon lens: deep, savoury, textural, and shaped by extended time in wood and bottle. Retail and producer-related notes list the 2010 in 500ml format, with spontaneous fermentation and long maceration in oak vats.
The wine spends around 30–60 days on the skins, followed by at least 5 years in used barriques and extended bottle ageing before release. Some listings describe the bottle ageing as vintage-dependent, with an average of around 5 years, while others note a minimum of 6 years before release.
In the glass, it shows a mature ruby colour moving toward garnet. The nose is evolved and layered, with dark cherry, dried red berries, plum, medicinal herbs, leather, tobacco, earth, coffee, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is dry, structured, and savoury, with firm but integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, earthy finish that carries both maturity and grip.
This is a mature, serious Merlot built for Radikon drinkers: not plush, not polished, but intense, slow-moving, and deeply gastronomic.
Perfect with braised beef, lamb, game, mushrooms, aged cheeses, roasted meats, and richer winter dishes.
