2022 Frank Cornelissen 'Munjebel' Rosso
Munjebel Rosso is a rich and fragrant expression of pure Nerello Mascalese, drawn from a selection of old-vine parcels across the northern side of Mount Etna. It blends fruit from some of the finest cru sites with additional estate vineyards dedicated to this cuvée, resulting in a traditional and balanced interpretation of Etna Rosso. The style is rooted in structure and generosity, with ripe fruit, fine tannins, and a clear volcanic identity.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red colour. The nose is open and expressive, with aromas of red cherry, wild berries, and strawberry, layered with floral hints and a subtle earthy, volcanic nuance. On the palate, it is warm and harmonious, with a rounded texture and supple, finely grained tannins. The fruit profile is ripe and slightly sweet in tone, balanced by freshness and a gentle mineral line that carries through a steady, persistent finish.
This is a classic, approachable expression of Nerello Mascalese, designed to show the variety’s balance between fruit, structure, and natural elegance in a more immediate and drinkable style.
Ideal with roasted meats, pasta dishes, or Mediterranean cooking, where its softness and freshness integrate seamlessly with the food.
