2020 Château Cabrières 'Les Silex' Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Located north of Avignon, on the left bank of the Rhône, Les Silex comes from 20 hectares of vineyard spread across the three main terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: galets roulés, urgonien limestone, and sandy soils. These clay-limestone soils with the iconic rounded stones allow the vines to withstand the Mediterranean heat and the Mistral winds, producing wines with remarkable aromatic complexity.

The grapes are hand-harvested at full ripeness, with three rounds of selective sorting to keep only the finest berries. Yields are limited to 25–30 hl/ha, ensuring concentration and depth.

Vinification is conducted parcel by parcel and grape by grape, the 80% grenache/20% syrah blend is assembled, lightly filtered, and aged for six months in stainless steel tanks, preserving freshness and terroir expression.

Les Silex displays a rich, structured palate with ripe red and black fruits, subtle spice, and mineral notes, supported by silky tannins and a persistent finish. This is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape of elegance and complexity, reflecting the diversity of its soils and the meticulous care of the estate. It will pair equally well with red meat and poultry, a cheese platter or just by itself.
