2023-foradori-granato-teroldego
2023 Foradori 'Granato' Teroldego

'Granato' is the wine that made Foradori a reference point far beyond Trentino. First produced in 1986, it was born from Elisabetta Foradori’s work to restore Teroldego to greatness, not as a rustic local grape, but as a variety capable of depth, nobility and long ageing.

The name recalls the pomegranate, a fruit that shares with the grape a Mediterranean symbolism of intensity, abundance and structure. It also captures the character of the wine itself: dark, concentrated, vital and full of internal energy.

Granato comes from old pergola-trained vines in Campo Rotaliano, selected across three different estate plots. The soils are alluvial, rich in gravel and pebbles, giving the wine its combination of density and mineral drive. Fermentation takes place in large open vats, followed by 15 months of ageing in tonneaux.

This is not a tinaja wine. Granato belongs to a different branch of the Foradori cellar: open vats, wood, old vines and long structural development. Where Morei and Sgarzon explore single vineyards through clay amphorae, Granato expresses the most complete and concentrated face of Teroldego through old vines and time in wood.

In the glass, the 2023 shows a deep ruby colour with violet reflections. The nose is layered and intense, with black cherry, blackberry, plum, violet, liquorice, dark spice, graphite and a subtle balsamic note. On the palate, it is powerful but composed, with dense fruit, firm tannins, bright acidity and a long, mineral finish.

Granato is Foradori’s great Teroldego: not the loudest wine in the range, but the most commanding. It has the structure of a serious cellar wine while retaining the freshness and savoury tension that make Teroldego so distinctive.

100% Organic.

Slow-cooked beef, roast lamb or pork, duck breast with blackberries, pasta or risotto with a mushroom-based sauce, or aged cheeses.

Serve: 16–18 °C
Drink: 2027–2045
Score: Vinous 96

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0722/2899/5223/files/Granato23_c556a2c7-3d72-43f1-aa3e-d889df4a348e.png?v=1783558174
